Question about Outlook Express

On Friday I received several messages (one each to my hotmail and outlook accounts) to say that I needed to install a Windows fix to Hotmail Live Essential for it to continue working following a change that Microsoft will make to the Outlook mail service in the near future. The messages pointed to this site http://communication.microsoft.com/Key-6859401.C.rv22.N.K4.-.nFwJQdB which redirected to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49486 This appears to be a perfectly genuine Microsoft site referring to a fix KB3093594

However having applied fix this I now get the messages below for all my hotmail and outlook email addresses.

Have I been conned? and if so how can I recover from it?

Hi everyone, 

I was editing a video in windows movie maker and saved it every 2 Minutes just to make sure. Then before closing the project I saved it again. 

Then when I wanted to open the project file again to keep on working on it Movie Maker gave me the error message "Sorry, Movie maker can´t open this project file. The file might not be compatible with Movie Maker or be corrupted." 

Is there any way that I don´t have to start all over again with my editing? It took me 3 hours already.

When I try to send emails I keep getting a box that says there are errors.  I need technical assistance please.  Here is a picture of the problem:

I am still using Live Mail 2011 on Vista Home Basic and I don't understand what is going to happen with the changes that I have been told about in the recent email.

Do I need to upgrade my OS and then Live Mail as well? Or can I just carry on as I am at the moment? 

I am concerned as I run 2 address books on 2 different microsoft email accounts and use the  programme with other email providers also which means that all my emails appear together.  Help!
