Like most people  got the email about the changes to email, and I find I am actually running live mail 2011 which i have just found is no longer supported.should i try to upgrade to the 2012 version and will all my folder come with me, or since I am planning to buy office 365 just after Christmas should I just wait till then and again wil all my folders go with my up grade or will I have to do something else with them to save the content.

Thanks guys.

I received a mail from Outlook to update my Windows Live from v11 to v12. I did so, and since all my folders with archive e-mails are not visible anymore in Windows Live Mail. Any idea how I can get these back?

PLEASE withdraw (or fix) the patch you offered to all users with live, outlook, Hotmail accounts since it gives too many problems.

I am member of a helpdesk supporting 150.000 users in the Netherlands and see the following issues:

Live Mail crashes, error messages when automatically compacting the database, all calenders events disappear.

In this forum more problems are reported and fixes are offered. But these fixes should not be necessary!

In some cases system restore will solve the issue, but in others it was necessary to uninstall and reinstall live mail. I don't want tot give our customers this "solution". Many are using POP accounts next to their MS accounts and have archives with lots of mail. What if that is lost (of course they should have made backups..).  This patch must be simple and effective and not require support to fix the issue!

On Windows 7 computers and for POP  accounts the app is not a solution. The app does not offer the same options and ease of use as Live Mail.

On 11th dec I received this from Microsoft about outlook email addresses

In a few weeks, we will be making some changes to our email services that might impact your @outlook.com, @hotmail, @live or @msn email account. These changes will prevent your email from being delivered to the Windows Live Mail 2012 application that you use.
In order to continue using Windows Live Mail 2012 to send and receive email for your account, you need to install the latest update published here.
If you use Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, we recommend that you switch to the built-in Mail app in Windows to stay connected and get the latest feature updates on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

I did as requested and clicked on 'here' above, to keep the system intact. After following the instructions and the steps were completed, I now find that I cannot receive emails to windows live mail. This initially only affected the outlook address, but today it appears to be also affecting the Tiscali address. The emails come to the app, to my tablet and to my phone, but windows live is the system I use and prefer when dealing with more complex  issues.  please can anyone help me return to windows live as it was?? Was the email a scam??

Hello,

I received an email today about needing to update Live Mail in order to still be able to use it.

So my problem is that the file refuses to open on my computer.

My daughter, whose more computer savvy than myself, was unable to open the update at all. My computer has Paint Shop Pro 5 on it and the file, which is a .msp file won't open in anything else. She searched around and still couldn't find anything to open it with, even when she tried online. The site itself only says this, which doesn't work:

My daughter grew frustrated with this and even tried downloading Orca to see if that would open it, but didn't understand how to use it. I am on a Windows 7 computer, and I DO NOT wish to update to 10. I struggle using computers as it is, so I want to stay with something I am comfortable with. I just want to be able to install this update so I can continue using Windows Live Mail on my computer like I have for years.

Thank You,
Cheryl

I have windows vista 9 and I can not run d-Mail.msp to upgrade my windows live email

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

This week Microsoft advised users to apply the above patch else Mail would stop working in a few weeks.. I have applied the patch and now Calendar does not work. When I switch to Calendar from Mail the program crashes with the message that "Windows Live Mail Has Stopped Working". It closes down and restarts but the problem persists. I am using an up to date version of Windows 10.

I have re-installed the un-patched Live Mail and it works fine. However, when the patch is applied it fails again. I am wondering whether it is because I share my Gmail calendar.

I could switch to the Mail App which Microsoft is encouraging users to use but it does not have the facility to use alias email addresses - which is a big deficiency.

There was email from outlook to update the windows live 2012.  After updating i am unable to receive and send email in windows live.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall windows live but till this time problem is not resolved and receiving above subject error.

May I request microsoft to immediately look into and resolve the problem as lots of user may be experiencing the error.

Urgently help me to resolve problem.

I upgraded the live mail from 2011 to 2012 version (Build 16.4.3563.0918) on my Windows 7 and 8.1 recently.

Both platforms could not display the attached Chinese file name, but Outlook.com showed correct.

The Outlook.com displayed using utf-8 encoding.  The setting of utf-8 in the live mail 2012 did not provide any luck.

Please help!

Thanks
