One  particular email (from Home Depot) causes my computer to freeze and I have to re-boot.

All the many other emails I receive does not do this.

I have tried to open the email and uninstall this one, but when I open it the computer freezes again.

This has been going on for 2 or 3 weeks every day. This is on desktop Window Live mail.

In Outlook WLM it is ok.

I received this email today.  Before I upload the update will Microsoft confirm that this email/instruction is a genuine email from them.  Thanks for your help.

Dear user,
In a few weeks, we will be making some changes to our email services that might impact your @outlook.com, @hotmail, @live or @msn email account. These changes will prevent your email from being delivered to the Windows Live Mail 2012 application that you use.
In order to continue using Windows Live Mail 2012 to send and receive email for your account, you need to install the latest update published here.
If you use Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, we recommend that you switch to the built-in Mail app in Windows to stay connected and get the latest feature updates on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Windows Live Essentials 2009 and 2011 are not supported any more, and you will need to update to Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 10 and use the Mail app, or use www.outlook.com. To learn more about the Mail app, please click here.
We also recommend all Windows Live Mail users on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 to upgrade to Windows 10 and use the built-in Mail application to stay connected and get the latest feature updates.
We suggest saving this email so you can refer to it later.
Thank you for your understanding and continued use.
Yours sincerely,
The Outlook team

I received an email that my live mail will no longer send or receive messages in the next few weeks.  I tried to apply the upgrade referenced in the email but get a message that the upgrade could not be applied because the version is missing or not the patch

is for a different version.  I am running Windows 7 32 bit and have several computers using live mail that may need to be upgraded.

How do I find what version of Live Mail I am running?   I loaded in several years ago as part of the Live Essentials package.

Is the email I received from Microsoft incorrect and my version is going to continue to work?

I have two desktops and this just started in both of them. My mail works on my iphone and ipad.

I get this error message when I try to get my mail:

Unable to send or receive messages for the XXXXXX account. An unknown error has occurred.

Server: XXXXX (network solutions)
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80004005
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

I use Vista on one computer and Windows 7 on the other.

I am using Firefox.

Even though the message says I cannot send mail, I can.

I have tried to restore computer to a point before the latest microsoft update, but that has not helped.

I do not consider myself very computer savvy--so please be kind :-)

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!!

We repaired Windows Live Mail with the indicated download. The repair causes Live Mail to fail with the following message:

Windows Live Mail has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
available.

Please advise. The error seems to occur while Live Mail is updating the calendar.

I have been trying since November 28, 2015 to get into my live.com email account.  It always takes me directly to outlook mail (preview) page.  I have spent over 12 hours doing online chat with Microsoft Tech and each one keeps sending me to another with different service request numbers.  Each person has me repeat the same issue and I am totally disgusted with Microsoft help!  I am losing money, as this email account is where I get rewards for doing surveys.  They've all told me the emails from that account would be automatically transferred to Outlook.  NOT!!!  Does anyone have an answer and can help me?  I am so disappointed in Microsoft - I thought they were a top notch company and instead, I am getting passed around and there seems to be no one who can resolve my issue. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have IMOVIE files that I want to use in Movie Maker.  They play on Media Center but not MM.  What do I need to do?
When I go to settings/advanced updates - the update is not even shown as having been installed. I installed it on 12/12 and WLM does not download email any longer. I want to uninstall this update and get WLM 2012 back to where it was.

Original title: Windows Live Calendar service error persists

This message appears each time I open my Windows Live mail.

"There was an error when attempting to connect to the Windows Live Calendar service. If the error persists, check to see if there's an upgrade of Windows Live Mail available or contact a service representative."

The program seems to work ok but I must remove the message each time I open the screen. I have set my computer to install any required updates. I have checked and the Windows Live updates are current.
