Starting getting the following error message this morning.

Unable to receive messages for the Hotmail (removed for privacy) (IMAP version) account. Header download for the 'AAImportant' folder did not complete. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Server Response: AUTHENTICATE failed.
Server: 'imap-mail.outlook.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): Yes

Also dialog box pops up asking me to check logon details. have done but still get above message.

Been able to logon directly to email server via web.

Have been able to send a email to my email address.

Looking at other queries in this forum seems i am not the only person having such problems.

Any suggestions?

I am getting frustrated as to why I cannot send emails from WLM

I have tried several things but still get the same error window saying it cannot send emails from this account

As I am an pensioner and still a bit illiterate with computers any easy way of explaining the solution would be much appreciated

There are always an extra few frames appearing at the beginning and end of clips that I've split when I render out a movie form Movie Maker. It's like the split function isn't working correctly at all.

I've made sure the clips are being split exactly on the correct frame. The source file is an mp4 file, which is supported officially by Movie Maker. The extra frames do not appear in playback when I'm editing,  but no matter my render settings it will never show as it does when playing back in the editor, the clips are always at least .3 or so seconds longer than they're shown to be, screwing up the entire video.

I'm using Windows 10, with the latest video card drivers, system updates and version of Movie Maker. Please help.

Sorry, I missed your earlier reply. Thanks for confirming that we're talking about Windows Live Mail.

  1. Is this account also set up in Outlook 2016?

  2. The account name indicates that this is the second instance of the account. Has the other one been removed, or just deactivated?

  3. Did you set up this IMAP account before or after the account was migrated from Outlook.com to Outlook Mail?

  4. Are you signed in with this same account? Point at  the account button to find out:

The original chap seems to have gone quiet, though I get the same issue as him:

Windows 10

Windows Live mail using a Hotmail account

INCOMING

imap-mail.outlook.com

993

Requires SSL SSL = Yes

Clear text

OUTGOING

smtp-mail.outlook.com

587

Requires SSL SSL = Yes

Requires authentication= No

It's been working for ages as IMAP and yesterday this error comes up. I am 'signed in' (looking at your screenshot with the same account as my Hotmail address. If I 'sign out' the issue is still there anyway.

AUTHENTICATE failed.

Configuration:
   Account: Hotmail (xxxxxxxxxxxxx)
   Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
User name: *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
   Protocol: IMAP
   Port: 993
   Secure(SSL): 1
   Code: 800ccc0f

Obviously I can still access my Hotmail via the outlook webpage.

Any ideas?

No matter what I or various "experts" do, I can no longer send Email messages, although I continue to receive messages.  What are my options?  One "expert" has indicated Windows 7 Email is no longer supported and I probably need to upgrade to Windows 10.

I have selected 2 pictures that I want to edit using photo fuse.  Each time I hit create and photo fuse the picture I want to edit doesn't come up only the one I want to take pictures from is highlighted. So how do I get the subject picture to be editied with faces from the second picture highlighted in editing process?    Thanks, Fred

After I changed my password on my Microsoft Account I can no longer send or receive emails using Live Mail 2012.

I then did the following:

Made sure there were no emails in the outgoing folder

Deleted my Hotmail account from Live Mail 2012 and my Galaxy S7 and tried to add it to both. On the PC I could add the email account but on the Galaxy S7 it would not allow it.  On my PC it allowed the addition of the email account but would still not send or receive.

I can access my Hotmail emails by going to the appropriate Microsoft's web page.

The error message I get is as follows:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (kym_moulds) account.

Server Error: 3219

Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE00005

As I said above everything was fine until I changed my password.

Any help would be appreciated as I use the Hotmail emails on a regular basis.

Cheers Kym

I have a new laptop running Windows 10 and Windows Live mail.  When I enter an event and press Enter - nothing happens.  I have a second laptop on the same desk and when I press enter on that one the event is entered into the calendar.   Any idea what's wrong with the new  laptop

I am having the same problem, since November 17th 2016  - and not found any fix yet.

Great shame we lost POP - Hotmail worked fine then, ever since the change I have had nothing but trouble.

I use windows live mail 2009;  with Windows 10
