Although I did check everything I can, I did notice that using Outlook with Gmail don't download all the messages I wrote.

I'm not just talking about old messages (5 years ago) - which may seem reasonable - but messages sent no more than 20 days ago. And in fact looking at the Gmail web interface, all my messages are there.

I did try to play around with the settings, to see whether there is something to change. The only setting to make sense was the "Download the Header Only" tick in the Server tab, which I promptly disabled withoug joy.

Is anybody experiencing the same problem?

Thanks

Andrea

That should be quite simple...

I can not find the script icon in my menubar.

I have downloaded a script , placed it in  directory:

~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office

Reading instruction which tells me: In the Menu Bar for Outlook & Entourage, you will see the script icon

But I see no script icon

Can somone help please?

Hello,

I have used Outlook and Entourage for many, many years. For the past few years, every few months, Outlook will re-download all email from several of my POP accounts. This is very time consuming to fix because I have many filters and need to manually find the duplicates. Recently, Outlook would repeatedly re-download all email for some of my POP accounts. This resulted in 3, 4 or even 5 duplicates per message. To make matters worse, Outlook does not allow POP email to removed from the server after X number of days. Entourage had that feature and I don't understand why Outlook doesn't have the feature. Certainly I can choose to immediately remove POP email from the server which avoids re-downloading duplicate emails, but recently this strategy caused me to lose emails. My hard disk crashed and my most recent backup was 4 days old. All POP email that was downloaded from the server during those four days was permanently lost! This would not have happened with Entourage because it allowed me to remove email from the server after a certain number of days. I usually picked 30 days, I think. Of course, if I read the POP account from two devices, like a Mac and an iPhone, then I need to keep it on the server.

I understand that IMAP is better. I have 15+ email accounts. Five of them are IMAP and they work great. I use POP for high volume list subscriptions or for accounts I never read from my iPhone.

I'm currently using Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011, version 14.4.1, released April 8, 2014. In the release notes the second fix listed is:

• Improves the ability to recover from certain network errors when you connect by using POP in Outlook for Mac
This update fixes an issue that causes Outlook for Mac to re-download the contents of the inbox for POP accounts for certain connection errors.

Options for using POP email accounts with Outlook:

1. Always keep the email on the server. This needs to be done if I read the email from two devices or if I don't want to risk permanently losing the emails. With this approach, I occasionally remove all the email from the server and this can be very time consuming.

2. Always remove the email on the server. I take this approach for most of my POP accounts. My hard disk is a solid state drive (SDD) and it's crashed twice in the past 2 years. This leads to permanently lose of emails.

3. Somehow get Microsoft to add the "Remove messages after X number of days" feature for POP accounts. I like this option the best, but I don't know how to have a feature request considered. I'll plan to "Send Feedback" from the Help menu on Outlook. I truly wish that I could file an issue report.

If anyone has suggestions or comments, let me know. Thanks!

I have decided to make a move to Outlook in the hope it was better than Mail for Mac but it was only once installed I find out that

- there is no way to add an email alias and choose which is the default address the email will be sent

- I can't add schedule to my IMAP folder to stop some account send and receive (just the default one can be selected)

- Outlook doesn't support Caldav and I can't get my appointments shown

- Similarly to the above, I can't enjoy my contacts in the list

I hope to be wrong, but I have spent nearly three hours to read threads everywhere attempting several tricks

Hopefully I'm wrong

I am using Outlook for Mac 14.3.9, I have the outlook.com account set up using imap.  For the last 3-4 weeks I open Outlook for Mac, all accounts connect/sync without a problem.  I usually leave my email open while I am working, and I will intermittently receive the following pop-up message

The server for account "Outlook.com" returned the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

If i cancel it, the account my sync, or it may pop up again, but it will eventually sync without problem.  This does not occur on Outlook for windows, or on my iPhone which also uses imap to connect.

Any suggestions...

There are 3 send messages in my outlook that keep going thru the send routine.  It repeats every time send/receive occurs.  I cannot find a way to stop this from happening.  The three messages are not in my outbox, nor anywhere else.  So I can't delete it.  Every time it tries to send I get an error message that says the following:  5.3.4 [D1] Message exceeds maximum size limits.  I have done everything (except the right thing) to stop this over and over again occurrence!!  Please Help!!!
I have been syncing my outlook contacts via iTunes. With this latest update, there is no longer an option to sync with Outlook.  Has anyone figured out a way to do this since sync services is not working?
Hoe kan ik alle mails bewaren en na een schone installatie weer terugzetten in outlook?

I am using O365. I have a very large number of emails in my inbox (20k+) and more in various folders.

Is there a way to limited the number of emails that are downloaded locally?

On my PC I can limited the number by date (e.g. only one month of email). I started using Outlook on my Mac and am painfully missing this option.

Thanks!
