Original Title: Outlook

My outlook suddenly stopped working last week. I now receive the message "this identity cannot be opened with this version of Outlook"

I tried the obvious uninstall/reinstall options and have followed a range of other remedies offered in help pages however the same message keeps appearing... Any ideas of what to try? Thanks Karen

Certain e-mails crash Outlook. It appears to be random and not confined to the type of e-mail or person. If I select the email and choose "forward" without opening, I am able to see the content and open items.

Anyone else have this problem and is there a more permanent fix?

Thanks

Help needed. Yesterday when I restarted my Macbook I could not open outlook. It will blink and then disappear. I tried to rebuild the main identity after closing all applications but it said "Your database cannot be rebuilt - 18000".

I tried to create a new identity and copy selected folders from Main identity inside it but still after that it could not rebuild this identity and same error appears"Your database cannot be rebuilt - 18000".. I can see the folder inside main identity which has my email messages but I cannot open because it is not connected to my New identity which I have created

I just got Outlook for Mac V14.3.9 and when I click the attach icon via the email and search for the file I wish to attach, I have to double click on a folder where that file resides but as soon as I do that, Outlook wants to attach the entire folder.  How I can change the settings so that Outlook will allow me to drill down into folders without it wanting to attach that folder to the email?
My email address is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I tried setting up an email account for outlook 2011 for MAC (mavericks). I don't know what to enter as incoming and outgoing mail server address, i tried pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com as well as pop3.outlook.com and smtp.outlook.com, didn't work. Also, live.in didn't work either.

Background: we have just replaced all of our xp computers and are trying to setup a win 8.1 desktop, a win 8.1 laptop, and a new MacBook Air, all running Office 365 Home.  I am in the last week of my Office 365 one month trial and want to get all of this to work properly.  Our current "brick wall" is that whenever we use the MacBook Air's office 365 outlook for email we get a constant series of error messages. Typically the messages state some problem with receiving or sending emails and it happens on more than one email account. (we have email accounts setup, as imap servers on gmail and yahoo and also an outlook.com email account, they all setup successfully and work to receive and send emails -- in between these email error messages.  We can use outlook for the same email accounts, setup the same way, on the win 8.1 platforms.  The popup error messages are frequent enough to pretty much prevent the use of outlook on the mac air.

Here are some approx examples of the error msgs (I have full email copies of these msgs that I could send someone but I cannot seem to copy them to this thread)

Mail could not be received at this time, the server for Gmail returned the error "Authentification Failed Invalid credentials failure" your user name passoword or security settings may be incorrect, do you want to reset them etc. etc.

Yahoo --- Outlook cannot find the server , verify the server info is correct, account settings, DNS setting, etc. etc.

(there are several similar error messages that keep getting sent from email accounts in use -- but email works in between error messages.) All error messages are from Outlook running on the mac.

We have tried resetting email accounts and passwords and account settings several times but  the error messages start again.  We cannot tell if the settings are being corrupted, they seem to be ok when we check them in the account setup screens.

Hopefully we have a setup issue or an outlook for mac bug, this outlook problem is going to cause us to quit using office 365 if we can't  resolve it.

The same email accounts with the same imap settings seem to work fine without error messages on the office 365 outlooks on the win 8 systems.  Thanks in advance for your help or for a phone number where we can discuss with Microsoft support (Apple support has told us it is an Office 365 issue.)

Hello

I would like to view my calendar of appointments and tasks together at the same time. The information I have found so far regarding this is for Outlook 2010 for PC and the indicated tabs don't seems to exist in my Office 2011 for Mac. I am forced to use Outlook email for work so it seems logical to try and use it as a calendar as well. If I am going to do this I want to be able to view my calendar WITH my tasks for the coming month the in some form or another without a lot of typing, clicking and unnecessary reminders! As far as I can see the three options that should be available to me are:

-Synch Outlook Calendar and Tasks such that Tasks appear on the Calendar view. I have tried this approach and despite enabling the synching the tasks do not appear.

-Open up a task bar in the calendar view. I have tried this but the tab/setting which allows a task bar to appear in the calendar view does not seem to be around in Outlook for Mac 2011.

-Use My Day for a combined view. I would do this except I can only get My Day to show 1 day at a time. This is pointless if you are trying to plan ahead to the next day or week. I need My Day to show a calendar view.

I would prefer to be able to enter Tasks and appointments on the one view (how easy it would be if you could enter an appointment or task on the one Calendar view). This would probably require the second or third options to work. However, I would take a solution for any option.

Thanks

Can anybody tell me why does Outlook  emails keep downloading the same emails over and over again?

I am using Outlook 2011 connected through an Exchange Server... For some reason emails that are moved to a folder (any folder) or that are in the inbox suddenly disappears. It is a very random thing. You don't know that an email is gone until you go searching for one. I searched all through outlook and nothing was found. Then I logged into OWA and went to the deleted items folder and right clicked on it. I clicked on Recover deleted items and the emails are sitting right there. I had recover the emails to put them back in my inbox. No one has been able to give me a answer to why this happens.

Here are somethings that I did to try to fix the problem with no luck.

1.Created a New Identity

2.Changed Domain password just in case I had an old device that was no longer in service.

3.Used OWA  (no client at all) for for a week and I didn't notice the problem.

4.No rules setup

Any help I could get one be great.
