I was updating my security info, where it lists a backup email address. Because I had closed that backup email account previously, I wanted to remove it as my backup. It took me to a page stating the following:

I don't have my security info any more

If you ever lose access to your account, your security info helps you get back in. Update this info to help keep your account secure. It will take 30 days for the update to take effect. The waiting period makes it harder for a hacker to lock you out of your account with just a stolen password.

What does the sentence mean: It will take 30 days for the update to take effect.

What "update" is it specifically referring to? And why does it take 30 days to take effect?

Deleted account’s shared calendar is still showing in my primary account

I used to have a secondary Microsoft account that I created for the sole purpose of sharing a calendar with others.

The calendar was shared with my primary Microsoft account, which is a co-Owner of the calendar.

The secondary account fell into disuse and was apparently deleted after a period of inactivity, which is fine, it was no longer needed.

The problem I have is that the secondary account's shared calendar still shows up in my primary account and pops up in my Outlook, in the web based calendar and on my phone.

I wanted to get rid of it and when I tried to log on using the secondary account to unshare the calendar and close the account, I found out that the account had already been deleted.

Now I do not know how to unshare or otherwise get rid of this calendar, I do not want it to show up in my primary account anymore.

I would appreciate any help with this.

I have upgraded to an iPhone 5 recently. My iPhone 4 maintained sync between my .msn(Hotmail) folders without a problem. My iPhone 5 only syncs the inbox. All other Mail folders report "no Mail". My Hotmail account via the web(now an outlook account) and Windows 8 Mail app on my surface pro sync ok and all folders are maintained there. My iPhone is running OS 7 and I have deleted and restarted the email account on the phone using the Mail app and selecting "Hotmail" for the setup. Based on the running dialogue here there may be something to be done at the server end. Help!

Movie Maker crashes, cannot add movie clip and cannot publish

I am having the same problem with crashing. I cannot even add and watch a single movie clip (it is only 2 minutes long) without it crashing.

Also, I have a project with 1 hour of pictures in it and when I try to publish it, it crashes.

I'm ready to switch to a new non-windows program if I can't get this fixed soon:(

My Mother’s Hotmail account has been deleted and seemingly ceased to exist over night, how do I get it back?

Hello, it's my first time posting here. I just don't know where else to go, I've tried googling solutions, but only pull up people having their emails deleted, not their accounts. My Mother has had this Hotmail account for a VERY long time and accesses it everyday. It has all her personal information, and important documents relating to her monthly income.

Things I've tried:

1) Signing in from a different computer.

2)Tried altering the email from Hotmail to Outlook. But the account with the same name as hers on Outloook has a different owner and different phone numbers to recover the password.

3) The strange thing is, I tried registering with the same name again, but it says that her email is not available.

4) Emailing it from another account, the email bounces back and sends me a post delivery failure notification.

5) Tried sending a ticket to Microsoft as requested, they emailed a few hours letter verifying that the account never existed.

However, that isn't the case because I have email history of it being active.

6) I've tried calling the Microsoft Technical Support, and I was sent here.

7) The account was in frequent use prior to today.

I don't know what to do. If anyone has any idea what's going on, or can offer some semblance of help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Please, her email has a lot of delicate information.

I have been locked out of my email account for several hours. I can sign in the email but I never get to see the inbox, I keep getting a message
"Sorry, there seems to be a problem with Outlook right now" Can you solve this?

If I export my Contacts list to Excel, will they be deleted from Outlook? I only want to copy to Excel.

I want to copy my contacts list to Excel so that when/if I upgrade I will not lose the list. I do not want to erase my contact or my address book from Outlook 2010.

my name is Matthew Kotecki so i log in to day and it says my windows live email no dosnt exist will that was suspicious so i check my recovery email to see whats going on cause a was able to log on the night before. I login and i found these messages

my windows live id was *** Email address is removed for privacy *** but the hacker changed it to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. and i assume he changed the name on my account security questions.etc I dont know what to do i feel helpless and my gamertag Silent Kill Pro was linked to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** but as i said everything was changed by the hacker and hes been playing on my account and i just barley updated my gold a month earlier
I contacted xbox support on the phone they said i need to verify its my account i couldnt because its hacked and they said they couldn't do anything then i contacted Microsoft support i talked to multiple people for a good 2 hours and i was eventually told to post here at anwser.microsoft.com so i am doing so now

Skype has new app that can work through Outlook. I downloaded the app (not called exactly that) and now I can open Outlook, but cannot open or delete messages. How can I get rid of the new app and get back to basic Outlook?
