how do I delay the opening of an email once it's selected. I click on an email & it opens 2 seconds later. god forbid it's a virus, spam, whatever. I cant find the option anywhere on how to do this

Hi: I recently bought a new computer with Windows 8. All my inbox emails and emails in folders disappear after 2 weeks.
I cannot find where to change the settings to keep emails until I delete.

I use Windows Live for my e-mail and I have several e-mail accounts set up under it. Most of the accounts I can send email from. However I get this message when I try to send email from 1 account:
The connection to the server has failed.
Server: 'mail.rwbms.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10061
Does anyone have suggestions on how i can fix this.

I am able to send and receive my Hotmail from my iPhone, an iPad, and my desktop, but my wife's iPhone gets a message that says
"Cannot Send Mail..The username or password for "Hotmail Account" is incorrect". I have tried deleting and reinstalling the the Hotmail account on her phone but to no avail. I took her iPhone to the Apple Store and diagnostics show that there are no hardware
problems. She does have the updated iOS 7.0.2 as I do have on mine, so this shouldn't be the problem. Again, Hotmail works fine elsewhere when I connect except her iPhone. Any suggestions?
