Original title: problem sending attachments to hotmail account

For the last few months (at least) I have not been able to send an email with any attachments to a hotmail account.  I can send an email with just text which is received but as I work mainly on email, any clients I have who contact me with a hotmail.com or hotmail.co.uk account, I have to ask them to set up a new email address just so I am able to send attachments.

Please can someone advise what I (or they) can do about this?

Thanks
I was logged out from outlook.  When i tried to enter my password, I keep getting the message that my password was incorrect/inaccurate.  I was forced to reset my password, and consequently have to enter the new password on my phone.  But I keep getting "Authentication failed" messages, even though it is the correct password.
I have lost my old emails ( inbox/sent), which was surely not deleted by me. Can some one help please?
Hello; I followed the tip the best i can; but when i put the mouse icon over my address; it's not giving me the option to click it to select the alias name. I'm not seeing *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. Does it take some time to show up? I logged out, signed back in using the alias address and i still don't see it in my message.

I have an old hotmail account that I created over 10 years ago that I now only use for receiving messages affiliated with online accounts I have signed up for.  I SEND NO MESSAGES from this particular hotmail account.  It's linked to my facebook page though.

I've had to change my work password a million times and recently hotmail had everyone change their passwords.  In the process of all these stupid password changes, I've managed to lock myself out of that old hotmail account.  When I tried to reset my password using the security hint, it's not accepting my answer.  This is frustrating to me given that the security question asks my pet's name and I've only had one pet my entire life.  When I enter that dog's name, it tells me I'm wrong.

I think someone has managed to hack my account and change those security settings.  Unfortunately, the page that I am then sent to in order to verify my account only asks me about emails I might have sent to other people from that account.  I send NO EMAILS from that account, therefore, I cannot answer that question.

I can give you the name on the account and tell you who I have received emails from (namely Facebook).  I can tell you my former passwords on the account.  But I cannot give you the name of anyone I have sent messages to and that's the only question you all seem to be willing to ask.

So...how do I go about re-gaining access to the account?

Hi,

I have setup my Hotmail account in Windows live mail by using http. Then all messages have been downloaded. However, I am now having  a problem sending and  not receiving new messages as this screenshot. I am quite surpsied that the same ID of Hotmail account and password are used.

Sometimes this error shows me::

I have tried these two steps posted by stevewright25

Inside the "Home" tab, tick “Sign Out” and select "Sign out of Windows Live Mail"
Tick the "Send/Receive" button.

And second thing in this if you are using Norton Internet Security 2011 Beta so please disable it otherwise it will not allow you to complete this task.

However, regarding first step, I am not signed to my hotmail account yet in order to sign out of it. I am only asked to be signed in to my hotmail account whenever I open the Windows live mail as it is shown  below. Also, when logging in to it, I don't let windows live mail remember its password. Thus, I think I think I don't need to sign out of it at all.

About the other step made no difference.
Hello,

For the past week and a half or so, I have been having trouble receiving emails... This past week, there were two, that I AM AWARE OF.  An email will be sent, to me and a few others, but I never get the original. However, I know that it was sent to me because I receive all of the emails from the "reply alls" and my name/correct email shows in all of the "To" lines. Of the two, one sender is/was a contact and the other was not...however, I've received both of their messages without any problems in the past. The reply all messages were from, both, contacts and persons that are not saved as contacts and I received all of them.  I have no idea what's going on...

I have had desktop computers for over 30 years and the present model runs well on Windows 8 and Windows Live Mail is great.  On my laptop I recently upgraded the OS ( also to Windows 8 ) and after installing Windows Live Mail I can receive Emails on that machine but I cannot send them. Also I do not get the usual list of Contacts and the Calendar is empty.

I was getting some feedback which suggested that I might not have entered the information about my servers correctly, but I could not find any written record of that and I do not seem to have access to the information on my desktop. I would like to get the laptop to respond to my log-ins in the same way as my desktop does.  Before I install Windows Live Mail again could anyone please explain where, on the desktop, I can find the required information ?  The drop-down link to accounts only seems to be concerned with new accounts, and not with existing ones. Many thanks.
