Outlook Android App notifications

I've got an LG Optimus Elite, Android 2.3.7

I don't want to receive notifications when I get an email.

But when I check email, I want it be updated, or I want to be able to easily update it. 

From what I can tell, the outlook android app has two settings: you can receive notifications, or you can have the app on "pause", which means it never updates.

Am I missing something? Is it not functioning properly? When I toggle updates to "off", I get a message that the app has "paused". When I hit refresh, my email updates, I check settings, and the update setting has been toggled back to "on".

Again, I wonder if I'm missing something or if the app is really that dumb.

But when I check email, I want it to be updated, or I want to be able to easily update it. I want updates without push. I can't seem to make this app do that.

When I uncheck "enable push", I get a message that the app has "paused". The app no longer updates when new messages come in.

When I go to my inbox and hit refresh, my email updates with new messages. I check settings, and the push setting has been toggled back to "on", against my wishes. This happens even if I have the update method set to "manually" (what is the point of a manual setting if, once you manually update, you then start receiving automatic push notifications? Am I supposed to reset the manual setting every time?). I start receiving status bar/sound notifications, which I don't want. I re-disable push. The app pauses and stops updating. Etc.

What I want is the update without the push. Isn't that an option? If so, I can't find it.

Two accounts trying to combine or merge

Hi,
I have my main Hotmail account since late 1990s. I have everything linked with this account. and over the time my skydive is now at 25+GB.

now I am finally able to get the address i always wanted and using it as my main account and moving things.

but skydrive now built in windows 8.1 I am at lost.

IS IT POSSIBLE to get my accounts merged or at least have get my disk space moved or something????

Lost Contacts

I have tried many of your suggestions to reclaim my lost contacts.  Nothing has worked.  When I go to 'people' - 'options', the only options available are 'help' and 'feedback.'  Is Microsoft trying to fix this problem with lost contacts?  If not, I will have to change email systems.

Hi emails from my email server are being received both by outlook and hotmail.com, however they are being dropped and do not reach the inbox or junkmail. I know this as it is all clear on the server side and it says it has been received by hotmail and outlook respectively.

When I add the email to a safelist the email comes through normally. Can you please help me solve this issue as it will impact my busienss very negatively and is pushing my launch date back now until this gets solved!

I had to go to outlook.com when Microsoft closed WebTV.  We were told that we could still send and receive emails if we made a new alias.  I made an outlook address the primary.  The WebTV address can still send but it can't receive emails.  I checked the settings and they are set for sending and receiving emails.  People are getting back anything they send to my WebTV address as undeliverable.  Outlook even sent me an email stating that I could still send and receive mail to the old address.  I would appreciate some kind of solution.  Thanks.

72 days or 270 days before hotmail account expires and is changing password after 72 days optional or mandatory

Is it 72 days or 270 days before Hotmail account expires and is it mandatory and do you have to change password after 72 days even if you did not check the reminder 72 password change box
