I was working on a project in movie maker, and the program crashed. When I re-opened the file, which was saved, it said sorry, Movie Maker can't open this project file. The file might not be compatible with Movie Maker or be corrupted. I had been working on it for a few days and had no problems closing and re-opening it, so it's not a compatibility issue. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Movie Maker, and that was unsuccessful.

I only saved one copy throughout (not multiple copies at different stages), which I now realize was a mistake, but unfortunately that also means I can't easily go back and just fix a few things... It's not really an option for me to start from scratch at this point, and I only have a few days to figure this out, so if anyone could help me out quickly I would really appreciate it. I've uploaded the file into my OneDrive if anyone is willing to take a look at it. I realize there are already several questions/discussions about this issue, but none of them have been able to help me resolve mine, so I'm counting on this pretty heavily!

Here is the file in question: (removed)    (should be named round3celebrationvid)

Thanks thanks thanks,

Cornelia

I have windows 8.1 and just downloaded the widows movie maker I then uploaded my movies which are mp4 format. None of them had sound in the movie maker but all played perfect when opened in other applications like windows media player. the video volume button shows that it is muted and I have tried everything to un-mute it.... Hi everyone,

Ive jus got a new webcam for my PC an was hoping to make vids on movie maker with it, however for some reason it always stops recording at 1:05min long? I can make lots of vids like this or I can do longer vids via my regular camera but wanna use my webcam. Can anyone help me with this? Im running on windows 8 and the movie maker came pre installed.

Any help would be hugely appreciated as this is getting really frustrating.

Thanks :)

I wanted to slow down movie footage, but the version of windows live movie maker I had did not have that option, in spite of the fact that the super old 2.6 version did. However, I was told by this website that if I updated my current version, I would be able to slow down and speed up video. So I checked my computers specs, all of which met the minimum requirements, and installed a new version off of the microsoft website. However, upon trying to use the new version, I was prompted with an error that said;

"Sorry, Movie Maker can't start. Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements before trying to start Movie Maker again, and then try to update the driver of your video card is Movie Maker still doesn't start.

It then prompts me to this page;

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows-Live/movie-maker-system-requirements-ui

It also has a "learn more" button which simply opens up the site search and punches in "movie maker" for me.

This website told me I needed to install this, this website told me I had the minimum requirements. It's like asking someone to fix your car, hearing them say they can, only to have them break your headlights and windows.

I'd like to either know how to resolve this problem or how to get my old version back. The version I had wasn't 2.6; it came with my windows 7 computer. If I used recovery media I'd get it back, but that would be an enormous waste of time. As for trying to fix whatever problems I have now as a means of using the newest windows live movie maker, there was a link on the first page I posted about updating my graphics card;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2741355/en-us

this page prompts me with the message;

"You cannot start Windows Movie Maker 2012 when a graphics card that supports DirectX 9 is installed on a Windows 7 computer."

I'm running DirectX 11, and before updating movie maker, I could edit video just fine. I am yet to find a way to fix this of regain the previous version I have.

Also, it would be really nice if your website could read it's own forum codes. I posted this and got a lot of < br/ >'s all over the place. To boot, when you highlight text and press the backspace key to delete it, it also deletes the first character before that text.

Hello.  I just got a new laptop with windows 8.1  I did it specially because I work a lot with videos and use movie maker. windows 8.1 does not come with that and after downloading and working on it. I couldn't burn the disk. So I contact the people of Microsoft about this and they say only windows 7 let me burn the disk,  they told me to contact you because you will know how to help me. I am desperate I have work to be done. PLEASE help me!!! my email is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***  Thank you

Hi,

Please guide me how to install the movie maker in HP Mini. If the diagnostics don't fit the requirements, can you suggest an alternate way to use my comp camera for video capture?

OS: W7 Home Premium 32-bit (6.1, build 7600)
SM: HP-Mini 110-3000

P: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N455 @ 1.66GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.7GHz

M: 1024MB RAM

DirectX Version: DirectX 11

DDI Version: 9Ex

I have Windows 7, Home edition. My Windows Live Movie Maker was working fine until recently. The movie clips would take about 5 seconds to load into movie maker and then it would skip (be choppy) during playback of those clips. To rectify this I searched the web where suggestions to reload Movie Make seemed logical. So I went to Microsoft Website (windows.microsoft.com/en-nz/windows-live/movie-maker#t1=overview) and downloaded Movie Maker from the Essentials package.

However, there is now no Movie Maker (nor Photo Gallery) on my PC anymore (the old one was automatically deleted). Where there used to a film role icon for Movie Maker there is now a blank page icon in its place. I have restarted the PC several times. I tried downloading again, but the download options tell me that it is already loaded - but it hasn't.

How do I get Movie Maker back please?

Uploaded from camcorder to moviemaker, made and saved movie.  All kind of problems when trying to make video.  Windows DVD Maker won't recognize wlmp file.  Making dvd from movie maker recorded individual scenes but not movie.  How do I burn movie???
