My Windows Live Mail software died and could not be fixed.  I managed to save all my emails and contacts from a directory (ie could not open Live Mail to properly export them but have backup of all the saved files).  I deleted Live Mail with the intent to reinstall but discover it is no longer supported and can no longer be downloaded.  I can't download Mail because it doesn't seem to be compatible with my Windows 7.  Not keen to switch to Windows 10.  I have Outlook so would like to switch to using it for email for now.

Can anyone talk me through how to copy my old emails into Outlook?  I've tried using the import function but they don't seem to be in the right format for that to work.  (They seem to be .eml files in folders the same as my directories before)

Hi from Pamela RM.
I am using Windows 10 and it came with Windows Movie Maker.  I was not able to publish to You Tube so registered for a Full Windows Move Maker Account. Prior to that Windows Movie Maker did not respond and stopped working when I clicked on save movie.
After I had full account.  I tried with a power point movie of still pics and was able to save this to my computer as mp4. I then tried to save a video movie and this was successful.
When I followed exact instructions found on internet to publish to You Tube no matter what size I chose it came up with this error.

I googled and found the following steps that have not been successful.

I started from scratch with a new project.

1. Open your movie file in Windows Movie Maker

2. Click the Publish Movie button or Save Movie button (in Windows XP)

3. Click Save to this computer and save it to the location that you want.  THIS IS WHERE I CANNOT GO ANY FURTHER??????

4. Go to more settings on the next screen and pick the last option (for a.wmv file at 1 megabyte per second) WHERE DO YOU FIND MORE SETTINGS AS YOU HAVE SAVED YOUR MP4 TO A FOLDER ALREADY AND NOT IN MOVIE MAKER any longer?

You cannot open the mp4 back in Movie maker????

5 Finish the operation by hitting Publish and Finish when the operation is complete

6 Close Windows Movie Maker and go to youtube.com. Sign In

7. Click on the upload button in the top right  of your You Tube home page

8. Click on upload video and browse to where you saved your movie. Select it.

9. Confirm your selection and fill out the various fields. description and title etc

10. Upload your video and watch it to make sure it works.

I hope someone can help me as I need to get a video out quickly.

To help with big video files and to upload them easily to You Tube.  My file is 98.9MB Plus I do have a larger file to upload.

I have also saved the mp4 file in One Drive.

thanks

Can someone help me because I hate the new editor.  I have a new computer and it runs with Windows 10.  Is Windows live not compatible with 10?

Cheers

Ann

Geekdom thank you for your reply however I had to uninstall Windows essentials because I couldn't find the download file.  I tried to download it and save it but it wouldn't in full.

So what I need now is a download link for windows essentials please that will work.

Thanks

Anniemac

I have created a .wimp file but am having problems saving the movie due to the normal lack of memory issues....

I tried to copy from original .wimp file and paste into a new project but will not paste even a small amount of data, I don't really want to start again due to the size of file I have created.

[I have Win 10; Dell Desktop; WLMail2012; Firefox Browser]

Was told to fix it by opening Internet Explorer, looking for "File", and uncheck the Work Offline.  BUT...although I haven't used IE for years I searched most of the morning and when I found it and opened it, it didn't have any content!  It looked like an abandoned store!

So I found these instructions from a thread (from 2013 though!!!):

"Do you mean that the Work offline button on the ribbon has a big red 'X' on it? It's supposed to - it's a command button, meaning you click it to do what it says on the button. The problem is, it doesn't work since the introduction of Internet Explorer 11. You have to rely on the message at the right-hand end of the status bar to tell you the program's online/offline status."

I followed them, but, while it changed the big globe above from "Offline" into "Online"...it also changed the one at the far right task bar into the opposite: "Offline".  Is this okay?  Shouldn't both show the same?  However, after 30 minutes or so....the big globe above is again showing "Offline"....    :(

Thanks ever so much for any help!

P.S.  I wish the webmaster here at MS fixed its "results" which are all 4 or 5 years obsolete!!!
