Question about Outlook Express

I recently started using the Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard and many of my keyboard shortcuts don't work. The ones in particular I need are to copy paste, and make text font changes. I've searched through all the forums and the typical commands do not work on this keyboard. For example to copy I've tried: 

CTRL+C  and CTRL+Shift+V and neither of them work

To bold I've tried: CTRL+B and that doesn't work either

The only shortcut that does seem to work is CTRL+U which does underline text. This is even more puzzling since clearly some shortcuts related to font do work, while others do not. 

 Please let me know how I can get this resolved. I really do rely on these shortcuts and relying on my mouse for these functions is very tiresome

now I KNOW what you're going to tell me, but yes. I have it on widescreen mode and all of my pictures are exactly 1080x720. so why is it doing this? what can I do to fix it?

I've been searching for hours on the internet to figure out whats happening and all of the explanations are with videos specifically, but mine is with photos (pngs to be specific) 

how to i remove the black borders?
