I have been using Movie Maker for over a year now to edit my videos for my YouTube channel, but now I cannot continue because the audio within the application has ceased to work. It has been like this for a couple of weeks. I have checked the sound mixer, and even tried to troubleshoot it, but all appears to be fine. I have even checked my speakers, and even they seem to function as per normal.

I am am currently running Windows 10 Home, if that is of any help when it comes to answering the question. I would appreciate an answer ASAP, as my subscribers are becoming impatient and I have a lot of videos pending.

Kind regards,

Ramal Wickramasinghe

We're running WLM 2012 on a Win 10 system which has been upgraded from Win 7 Home Premium, but I don't believe this is particularly relevant. This problem is mentioned many times in this forum and also across the web but nowhere does there seem to be an answer other than moving to another mail client (a reinstall of WLM following deletion of its databases would have the same effect of course, but the smart alecs don't seem to realize that!)

Anyway - WLM can receive emails as usual (using a *** Email address is removed for privacy *** id) with no problems and the mails can be read using the standard setup of the WLM client, so no issue with opening emails there. However having selected an email, or having opened it in a separate window, when one clicks on reply or forward one gets the unhelpful messages which say that a problem has occurred and WLM is unable to open the email (despite it having already done so). Neither of these two messages is accompanied by any error code. We have tried the repair of the messagestore by using the esentutl.exe command as detailed elsewhere but this just runs successfully and nothing changes.

The only thing that does look slightly unusual is that in the Security tab of the Properties window for the C:UsersXXXXAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Live Mail directory we see System, XXXX and Administrators with all permissions apart from Special ticked, but we also see a new User which is called "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" and this has just the Write permission granted. We do not see this on other Win 10 systems with WLM 2012 installed, and some limited web research seems to imply this is a Win 8 related user even though we have not come via the Win 8 route. We are not sure why this "user" is there, or whether if we were to upgrade its permissions for the WLM directory whether it would resolve the problem.  Any thoughts or clarifying information anyone?

I am facing this issue with My Mac Outlook 2011 Please help me out.

When I forward mail from Mac Outlook 2011 Version 14.5.4 to Any Windows User, line space automatically get increased 2 or 3 times. Font size and type also Changes on Windows Outlook(Suppose while drafting I selected all content of email and made choice of Arial Font, then some of the line appear as Times New Roman font in Windows laptop . My Mail Server is Microsoft exchange server 2007. I have checked 3 Profile same issue coming.

Split from this thread.

Unfortunately I want to remove those FaceBook friends on my WLM contacts list. As you suggest I went to FB to try to, but found nothing that helped there... at least not w/o deleting those friends.

Any ideas along that line would be helpful... if possible... THX

I have been using Windows Live Mail for my Outlook account. As  of today the programme has closed itself automatically a couple of times. I also can't access the Junk folder. When I click on it nothing happens, and then the whole programme freezes and nothing I click on will respond. I have to close the whole thing down. I want to check that emails haven't mistakenly gone to my Junk file. It says I have 8 emails in it, but obviously I don't know what they are. If I access my Outlook account separately on the internet, there is only 1 email in Junk, so this doesn't answer my question. My laptop did install some updates yesterday so I was wondering if that might be the problem?

I had to restore my Windows 10 system and had to reinstall Windows Live Writer.  When I went to download some plug-ins for Live Writer, I discovered that the Live Writer gallery is gone.  I've tried searching online on other sites but the links all lead back to Microsoft.  They either take me to a page about Gadgets being discontinued or to my Outlook.com mailbox(?).  I've tried searching the general Microsoft downloads, but count not find any of the plugins there.  Is there any other place to get Live Writer plug-ins or are they gone forever?  Thanks.

I have 2 computers both with Windows 10 and Windows Live Mail.  One has Open Office while the other newer one has LibraOffice 5.0.  All attachments are received in emails on the system with OpenOffice.  However, file types like .xls are blocked on the system with LibraOffice.

LibraOffice works fine with these file types if I open a file stored on the computer or if I download and open from the web mail (e.g. Outlook or Gmail).  The problem is when these email accounts are defined and uses in the Windows Live client.

I have examined the Settings>System>Default Apps>Choose default apps by file type on both systems.

On the system with OpenOffice, .xls, .xlsx, and others show the Open Office icon but are missing the label OpenOffice Calc.  These file types are accepted by Windows Live Mail.

On the system with LibraOffice, .xls, .xlsx, and others show the LibraOffice icon but are missing the label LibraOffice Calc.  These file types are NOT accepted by Windows Live Mail.

FYI - I don't know if this matters but Settings>System>Default Apps>Set defaults by app, then pick OpenOffice 4.1.1 and pick Choose defaults for this program shows a list of file types and Current default.  For .xls and .xlsx the default says Unknown application.  The same is true for the system with LibraOffice.
