I have Windows Live Mail 2012. When I open it I get window that says "Recovering the Windows Live Mail database". Also, there are some emails in my deleted folder that I can't delete from the folder. I get a message "An unknown error has occurred".
Error message for Windows Live 0x80041161, had windows 7, recently doownloaded window 10. Worked OK for weeks, then stopped.

I have a group email set up.  It worked for a long time, then all of a sudden, it would send to only one of the four in the group.  I completely deleted the group and created a new one.  I did a test email and all in the group got it.  I then sent a real email and everyone got it.  I just sent another group email to the same group and only the first person listed in the group got it.  I can tell by the sent mail.

Hey Community,

I've been working on an epic video for the past 4 months, on and off, and finally started to get close to the end when Movie Maker crashed on me, this morning. Windows ended the program and upon restart asked me if I wanted to restore the project. I had done very little since my last save, so just said "No" and opened the file. Upon opening, my timeline was empty :(. No audio, no video. The preview showed a duration of 39 minutes, but was all black, even when I tried to pay it.

I've looked around the Community for tips and tried:

  • The temp backup file. It's time saved looks like it was created after I choose not to restore my project, though. Plus, trying to open it gets me a different error anyways.
  • Re-installing Movie Maker from the command line, no luck.
  • Re-installing Movie Maker and running CCleaner to clean out remaining registry files.
  • Changing the location of the source movie files.

Nothing has worked. I'm desperate. Desperate and frustrated, because I feel like a better message on the Do you want to restore popup could've prevented this. Or WLMM could've at least kept the old restore file for me to work with... maybe they did? Somewhere?

Is there any chance I can get my project back? Appreciate any help you can offer.

I have 8 or 9 Movie Maker Projects that I was currently working on. Windows 7. All of these projects had music files (.m4a,) that worked flawlessly. No issues at all. Well, after a few months break, I went back to these projects to check in and complete. Now every .m4a song has a warning that states that Movie Maker cannot read any of the .m4a files. I spent many hours with Microsoft with multiple techs on my computer but none of them could figure it out, (it seemed each were not really versed on Movie Maker.) Their advice was to convert every music file. Using Itunes for pulling music, this is extremely problematic. It seems to me there is a simple solution or fix, if only...I tried to re download Essentials but no change. Help!!

I want to take certain scene's of one video, and a place them into certain part's of another video. That is if the Windows Movie Maker 2012 can even do it. I'm pretty tech savvy, but I wanna ask before I do. It seems there are a lot of problems for people with 2012 edition,  but id have to say I haven't had one problem. I just wanna make sure before I do have a problem and end up messing up the videos I have recorded thus far. Any comments or answers are much appreciated. Yaw all have a nice day.

Split from this thread.

We just purchased a new HP computer and upgraded to Windows 10.  Our old computer ran Vista Home, and we used Live Mail.

I downloaded Windows Essentials, and got our msn.com email (along with our Verizon account) to show up when I open Windows Live Mail.  This morning, I noticed that an email from a contact that was sent Sept. 11 does not show up in the Inbox; however, if I sort by the From column, that email shows up . . . and it says its location is in the Inbox.  While that email is highlighted, if I click and sort the Date field, the email is gone.  When I look at all the emails received on 9/11, the email from that person is not there.

I've run the repair you mentioned in your reply to Peyton50 above, but the email in question still doesn't show.  Is there a way to fix this problem so that all our emails show up in the Inbox according to date, with the most recent first?  It's really strange that the email shows up when sorted by Name but not by Date!  I never ran into this problem with our previous version of Windows Live.  Any help will be most appreciated.
