Problems with codecs and adding video clips for editing to Live Movie Maker 2011

I'm having a problem with getting clips that I edited in Live Movie Maker to put together. It can't find it, and it won't recognize the  format of either wmv or the native extension that I saved it under in the first place.

According to Movie Maker 6.0, I don't have the right codecs installed to play the clip or add it to my Live Movie Maker Library. Where do I go to get them, and why weren't they installed with Windows Vista.

I have a Hewlett Packard Pavillion P6110y running Vista Service Pack 2, with Live Movie Maker 2011(and Movie Maker 6.0, that came with Vista) Any help you can give me would be extremely helpful. Please be patient with me, as I'm new and didn't  understand the files about the Codecs at all. Could you baby-step me through the steps to get this problem solved so I can get my movie edited and uploaded to YouTube?

Movie Maker 12 on Windows 7 Lost part of function when opening menu to investigate options. Clicked on advanced, closed, restarted, and now I have no animations, no add music functions and more. "Restore defaults" and restarting changes nothing.

Can’t Send emails with mail.mchsi.com

I am using Windows 10 and Live Mail (from before I upgraded from 7 to 10).  My email worked fine for about a month after the upgrade - then out of the clear, cannot send emails.  My Internet provider (Mediacom) said my public IP was blacklisted due to spam and there was nothing they could do.  I ran Malwarebytes and full scan - only 28 tracking cookies found.  I changed outgoing and incoming to 465 and 995 (per their suggestion).  It did not work.  Later it did work.  Next day, it didn't work again.  Sometimes it's only blocking send.  Another time both send and receive. I've unplugged modem overnight to try and get new IP address.  Nope, same IP.  What the heck can I do.  I'm ready to just trash Live and use webmail from Mediacom (which I don't like). 

The connection to the server has failed.
