Question about Outlook Express

I have a tale full of woes. When MS upgraded (I  think it was a downgrade actually) Windows live mail (by the way I don't know why they call  the same for the web based program and the machine based) I did what was instructed in other threads to get WLM working again. I still have for more than a month after doing that 1) junk mail was split into 2 folders 1 called junk the other junk e-mail the email go into one or the other , I can't figure out on what basis.

2) very annoying the sent folder acts as a receiving folder on the header there is no to column there is only from, subject ,date instead of the way I had it originally to , subject, date , account. if I wan to find an email to particular I no way of finding it short of looking thru all the items. this one is ok in the web based live.

3) When I delete emails they disappear without a trace instead of going  to the deleted folder, if I delete by mistake I have no way of ever retrieving it .Here if I delete in in the web based live it goes into the deleted folder and I could also see it in WLM but not if I work in WLM it's very hard for me to work in the web based live. I am at my wit's end I beg for someone to help me.

One more problem, about the beginning of last month I out this same problem in another thread I was every looking day for a week to see if anyone answered until I lost my patience. Now I don't my reply anymore in that thread, but, I see that thread when I open my profile  and look for "my questions" I don't how it was deleted.

For some reason Outlook is not allowing me to sign in. Can someone please tell me why? I've had Windows 10 for a while now and have not had this problem.

Somehow I feel that we are being forced to give up on Windows Live Mail. is this true Microsoft? how is an ordinary person with minimal knowledge of email servers, window 10, and the relentless W10 upgrades supposed to understand, let alone keep up with, all the upgrades and errors. I cannot make any sense of what the other board questions mean on this topic. So, forgive me for having to submit yet another.  It really should be simpler than this for the ordinary user who doesn't have time to be messing around with upgrades that seemingly do more damage than good.

I use Windows Live Mail which I find far better than the MAIL client that comes with Windows 10.  I managed to get it fixed again to work with a W10 upgrade earlier in the year for my Hotmail and Outlook accounts. Now, after these last couple of upgrades, the errors abound, and I cannot make heads or tails about what all this jargon means. I have not performed any uploads, downloads, or any other configuration changes to my Microsoft Surface, other than the relentless Windows 10 upgrades.

The error messages appear in different popup windows are as follows:

Check for New Messages on Hotmail failed

Check for New Messages on Outlook failed

Windows Live Mail

It looks as though I will have to do a reinstall of Windows 10.

I am currently using Live Mail.

Is Live mail STILL a supported program and how do I get it to function on Windows 10?

I went to control panel, all control item, program and features, windows live essentials 2011

I selected to repair.  It says I lost my internet connection. I tried this 4 times. I did not lose internet I have full bars and are connected directly into my router.

This error just occurred today.

I have cox.net as my outgoing mail.

I can not send emails out.  I have spent 2 hours with cox to make sure all settings are correct to connect to their server.

Any advise on how to over come this problem.
