I'm using Windows Live Mail 2012. When saving e-mails they save as this type of icon instead of the little white eml envelope even though they are still eml files. I can't open them though. Any idea why? I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling and repairing the programme to no avail. I am running 8.1 on a desktop PC and the problem only started a few months ago. All my business e-mails can no longer be viewed.

Trouble with the latest e-mail programmes/apps, you cannot save them to your PC or insert pictures etc which is no good to me.

HELP PLEASE!

[Original subject: Cannot open e-mails]

I'm currently working on a project in Movie Maker. I accidentally saved while Movie Maker was giving me a error where it deletes some of the files and reduces the time. It happened a few times so I thought I would save every few edits.

It was a big project that I was working on for YouTube and I had been working on it for a few hours. Like I said, I accidentally saved during one of these errors and now, it won't let me go back to a previous version.

I really don't want to start all over.

I hope there's a way to restore a previous version.

I migrated from Windows Live Mail [WLM] 2012 to Outlook 2016.

-- I transferred my online files and my contacts acceptably.

-- Problem:  I have more than 300 locally stored file folders that contain thousands of mail messages, many with attachments, which were stored under WLM 2012.  I need to migrate them all to Outlook 2016.

I read Microsoft's online page:  https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Windows-Live-Mail-2012-will-not-connect-to-Outlook-com-45453b92-373b-4bbb-88ca-f8ec74f8e8fd -- and about 2/3 of the way down that page, it outlined the following:

------------

Locally stored data can be moved from Windows Live Mail 2012 to Outlook 2016 before or after your Outlook.com account is upgraded.

NOTE: You'll continue to have access to locally stored data in Windows Live Mail 2012 after the Outlook.com account upgrade.

Need more help moving your data?

For more assistance with moving data from Windows Live Mail 2012 application to the Mail app for Windows or Outlook 2016 for Windows, submit your questions to the Windows Essentials community forum.

-------------

-- I could not find exact instructions on this forum to migrate the WLM folders and data into Outlook 2016.

-- How do I migrate the 300+ local folders and their data, into Outlook 2016?

I appreciate your help!
