Question about Outlook Express

Original title: Security backup email address - Please read this and Moderators PLEASE DO NOT LOCK THIS THREAD before I get answer! / would like to change alt email to recedive security code

First, PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE REPLYING. Moderators PLEASE DO NOT LOCK THIS THREAD before I get answer! Moderators seem to have a habit of locking threads before an answer is given. (Remember, a *reply* is not necessarily an *answer* -- i.e., resolution.)

I want to change the backup email address (separate email account) where security verification info is sent. But the procedure would not allow me to select an alternate email account. Instead, it states that it is sending a code to that address. The problem is that I previously awhile back (months) already deleted the backup email account that is listed.

The moderators sent me an email with a link directing me to the page (see link below) with instructions that are TOO COMPLICATED for me to understand. So, PLEASE DO NOT DIRECT ME BACK TO THAT PAGE. I simply want to know how -- if possible -- to change the backup/alternate email address on the security section of my outlook.com email account. Below is the link and instructions on that page that I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. I cannot make sense out of it, and I cannot make it work. The instructions are TOO TECHNICAL and TOO COMPLICATED.

To add "Support Site" to the trusted sites zone, follow these steps:
1.On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
2.Click the Security tab.
3.Click the Trusted Sites icon, and then click Sites.
4.Click to clear the Require server verification check box.
5.Check whether http://support.microsoft.com is listed in your trusted sites. If it is listed, type http://oas.support.microsoft.com, and then click Add.
6.Check whether https://support.microsoft.com is listed in your trusted sites. If it is listed, type https://oas.support.microsoft.com, and then click Add.
7.Close all dialog boxes, and then refresh the browser window.
