Sync problems with Skydrive after updating to Windows 8.1

I currently have two computers syncing to skydrive. They were syncing the same folder to skydrive, such that the folder would remain identical across computers. I was backing up in the directory Skydrive/Backup

I recently upgraded one of them to Windows 8.1. The other one has Windows 7. Now, it appears to have made a ton of "dummy" files in which don't open or sync to skydrive. 

For example, let's say I have a word document Test.doc. There are now two files, Test.doc and Test-nameofwindows7computer.doc. Test.doc does not open, while Test-nameofwindows7computer.doc seems to be the original file and working fine. This has broken some of the applications on my computer, as the file they reference does not open.

How do I remove these dummy files and sync skydrive like I did prior to the update?

The current error in skydrive is 

"Files can't be uploaded because we can't access the folder. For help, contact your administrator"
C:\Users\Computername\SkyDrive\Backup\My Music

This folder doesn't exist, so that would probably explain why skydrive seems to be confused. Not sure why it's trying to upload that folder anyways.

An old email has vanished from my account after accessing it and viewing the attachments online.

I accessed an old email yesterday out of one of my folders. I viewed 2 of the 3 attachments contained in the email online. When I hit back to view the 3rd attachment I was brought back to the folder screen and the email dated early 2012 was gone. I have searched everywhere for this email, junk, deleted, POP, I trawled thought every folder and have used the search function extensively. If something similar has happened to you and you can help please let me know. I need access to this email!

Hello, I had a Microsoft Hotmail account which I had been using since 2001. It was purely for my official use but recently when I tried to sign in, it said that someone else might be using your account and my access was denied. I tried to go with the alternate email option but it didn't work probably because the alternate email was changed.  I filled the questionnaire and it wasn't helpful either. Please help me solve this issue as my account had a couple of important documents. Thank you

skydrive stuck on downloading status

Hi

I have 5 files showing as "Downloading" in the Skydrive app and the blue sync arrows on the folders concerned but they never sync up - they are forever "Downloading" even though as far as I can tell the sync has finished.

How can I use an old password for outlook.com

I want to reset my password and use one previously used. I get a message to say that I cannot use an old password and must chose a new one. Surely there is a way around this. Please help!!!!
