What’s the best method for allowing Windows Live to open prohibited file types?

I'm using Windows Live and I've received some emails with docx. attachments in which I received the "Prohibited File Type" message.  I've done some searches on the subject and have found that there is a setting in the Windows Live Tools security settings that allow these type of files to be opened.  But by making this change this may expose your computer to a virus contained in an attachment.  What is strange is that I only have this problem on a laptop with Word Starter installed.  I don't have this problem on my desktop with Microsoft Office 2007 installed.  Both computers use Windows Live and have the same antivirus protection and have the same recommended security checks.  The files produced in Word Starter are .docx type yet Windows Live prohibits this type of file to be opened.  To test this I've sent myself emails with files attached produced in the Word Starter program on the laptop.  When the email is received in Windows Live (same computer) the "Prohibited File Type" message occurs.

 

My questions are;

Why is this happening when the only difference is the version of Word being used?

Is there a safer way to allow these types of files to be opened without removing the security block which Microsoft recommends?

Is there a limitation within Word Starter program that's causing this or does the problem exist with Windows Live?

how do i recover deleted messages from outlook.com

My Hotmail account was hacked and I am trying to recover them in outlook.com when trying to recover I get the following message. Please help.

 

There was a problem with the Outlook service (a temporary network connectivity issue that has nothing to do with your computer). Please try again.  If you keep seeing this message, go to Service status to check if there's a problem with Outlook. 

I want all deleted emails to be DELETED! and not able to be retrieved again after being deleted. How do I accomplish this?

 I dont want anyone  to be able to retrieve deleted messages.
Once I put them in my deleted folder, and then delete them  from the deleted folder,

 I dont want them to be able to be retrieved again, EVER.
 this happened when I had some very personal messages, and cost me a lot of grief.

Reassign a number

I have a cell phone that has been passed from one family member to another. I've deleted the number from the contact card of the person who used to have it and entered it under the new person. When I call it, though, it still looks like I am calling the old owner. How can I fix this?

I am trying to get onto my old Hotmail account and i cant remember the password, and of the security questions, i only have the email that I'm trying to get onto associated with it so i cant get the password sent to me, so i fill out the questionnaire but i don't remember a lot of the information like my old postal code, security questions, or recently sent emails, and i didn't have any saved contacts, so i filled out what i could and it says it will email me the email within 24 hours to let me know if i put in enough information but I haven't gotten any emails? WHAT DO I DO?

I can send email from my outlook.com account but cannot receive emails from anyone.  Senders get the code: outbounds5.obsmtp.com.  Please note I do not use Office Outlook software.  I access my account from outlook.com.  I have two other outlook email accounts and do not have any issues sending or receiving emails from those accounts.  Please advise.

skydrive broken on windows 8.1 — not the preview 8.1 version (although the version drop down for OS only shows preview option)

Upgraded to Windows 8.1 and skydrive no longer functions.  I have another machine running Windows 7 and still am able to access my content, but the Windows 8.1 machine is not syncing any longer.


Troubleshooting steps taken:

- Uninstalled Skydrive

- Deleted Skydrive userprofile folder

- Downloaded new Skydrive installer

- Ran setup

- Installer launches, progress bar reaches complete, then nothing

Want to sync hotmail and android phone so can delete emails from either device.  Works when deleted from phone to computer.  But does not delete from computer to phone - trying to cut down on all this deleting time....

Don't want to get rid of hotmail address as have had a long time etc.

Can it be used with Live, and Outlook
