Hi everyone,

I have tried to use windows live movie maker today (I have never tried it before), to try and edit a video. What happens is - It opens OK, but it wont open my video, the screen remains black and does nothing. I have tried control panel by selecting windows live essentials and then change.

It said repairing this will take a few minutes, after which it needed a restart. Nothing has changed, so it was a complete waste of time. Has anyone yet got an answer to this problem?

Thanks

Hi,

I am getting the following message on when i try to launch movie maker (pls see attached image).

I checked few similar issue being posted and tried the following:

1. Uninstalled all previous versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable

2. Downloaded and installed latest versions - Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (both x64 and x86)

3. Restarted the PC

4. Launched the app and still got the error

I have "Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (x64)" installed, if that information is of any help.

I have not used Movie Maker in long time but it worked last time I used. I think I did update my PC to Windows 10 after I used movie maker the last time. I read that this error and similar errors are caused by updates to Windows 10.

Please help !

I know that WLM is on the way out, but we have a ton of WLM mail folders that need to be converted to a different format. Thus, I want to install it on a clean Windows 10 installation.

The installation tool tells me it needs .net framework 3. OK, I download the .net installer and run it. It seems to check if the required files are on the PC, then switches to downloading required files. Nothing has happened for an hour or so. Is the download that large?

Yes I am connected to the internet. Speedtest.net claims a download speed of 6.6 MB/sec.

What can I do to get WLM installed?

Screenshot: downloading required files, no progress.

I have been using Windows live mail 2011 on a windows 7 computer for the last 6 years or so.  Have just purchased a new computer with windows 10, and purchased office 365 as well, and will use outlook 2016 as my email program.

I want to export my old emails and folders, etc to be able to use them in outlook 2016.  I follow the instructions to export in windows live mail and chose "Export email" > email messages > Microsoft exchange, and click next.  I get the dialogue box that says this will export WLM emails to Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft exchange.  I click OK, and then nothing happens.  The dialogue box disappears and I am back at the previous box below:

The screen just stays there, and nothing happens.  From my other online searching, I should get a choice of which folders to export or something along those lines.  If I click "cancel", the dialogue box comes up saying the export isn't completed yet, are you sure you want to exit the wizard?   Nothing is happening in the background, so I have to exit.

I have always had automatic updates turned on.  Is there an update missing from my windows live mail install?  it is

Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308)

Note that I can export to the Microsoft Windows Live Mail format, but that does me little good as I can't import that into outlook 2016.

Please help.  Thanks, Darryl.

After trying to send photos in an email message Windows Live Mail does not respond to clicking on the desktop icon. All I get is the "tasks" window saying 2 messages are being executed but nothing happens after more than an hour.

Whenever I open my Windows Live Mail the following warning comes up.

If I click the X in the right hand corner it goes and I just carry on.

If I click “cancel” it just goes away.

If I click OK the following comes up.

If I click, “Sign in the large box goes away and the small box above it comes back so we start going in circles.

In my last attempt to solve this problem a reply was offered asking what Error Message shows but there is no Error message.

I then got into a mess and could not get into the thread so I am raising it again here.
