Question about Outlook Express

I am aware that Live Mail is from Windows Essentials and I have used for a few years.

But it has been playing up in the last few months.

Live Mail opens but it stalls at 'checking' but no emails are collected and soon it has to be stopped.

I have heard Live Mail and some other Windows Essentials software (such MovieMaker) is being phased out.

What is the current status of Live Mail and will an announcement be made of a date when Live Mail will officially stop working?

I am trying to uninstall Windows Live Mail.  Under Windows 10, I have "Mail" as well as Outlook. I have default app for mail set to Mail., however, when I try to email from a program such as word or any other app, Windows Live 2011 opens as the default, and then I get error message below. 

I have tried changing default to Outlook, but Windows Live 2011 continues to open.

Only an issue on Windows Live Mail.  Not an issue on my mobile Outlook App or on my Hotmail account when using via any browser.

It's a batch of various emails from the 2nd to the 6th of August.

I'm running the latest Windows 10 on an DELL intel 7 machine.  I use Windows Live as one of my email services.  It has been running excellent until yesterday - when I click on an email it pops up as normal.  When I click on the reply arrow the software pauses for a short time....a few seconds....then the entire app minimizes.  When I maximize it and try to use the reply button again the same thing happens and it minimizes again.  I cannot reply to any of the emails I receive on Windows Live - any suggestions are welcome.
