with plans to make hotmail unusable with Windows Live Mail 2012, it was thoughtful for Microsoft to issue a patch preserving the usability of WL 2012 with Hotmail.
Unfortunately, the patch -- KB 3093594--doesn't work (that is, it makes the "Sent" field info unusable in Windows Live 2012 showing the name of the Sender as the "TO" field for all mail sent while the patch is installed.)
So at the moment, the choices seem to be: lose functionality without showing correct name in Sent TO field, OR lose all access to Hotmail if you wish to run Live 2012 and a Win 7 machine.
Is this the situation -- or should we expect a patch that works to replace the patch in KB 3093594.
If no patch is coming, it looks like it will be time to conver away from Hotmail after all these years. (Especially because I am planning to upgrade to Win 10 at a time of MY choosing, not to be forced to do so in order to continue to use email).
Since there has apparently been a decision to make Outlook Com unworkable with Wlive 2012 unless there is a patch, It would be helpful to know: will there be a working patch?
Please advise.
After trying Windows 10 for a few weeks and not willing to accept a few issues with 10, I went back to Windows7. Initially I had some of my desktop shortcut icons with a padlock on them (fixed that). Kept getting message that Live Mail was reecovering database every time I opened the program. Tried a Windows shadow recovery from prior to downloaded 10-didn't fix problems. Then restored all files from a backup I did prior to 10--many, many files (I'm guessing several hundred) were not restored (I made a notepad copy). Now I can't delete some emails from my inbox, some can be deleted. Trying the repair option on Live Essentials several times has not fixed Mail 2012. What can I do to get Windows Live Mail 2012 to work as it did prior to trying Windows10? Microsoft forums suggest I'm not alone and no fixes
were found there. Thanks to someone that has the answer.

Windows Live Mail stopped sending and receiving messages. It seems to be my default method of sending my documents, photos and emailing scanned items, so I'm unable to do those functions. I found a Wiki article that says that this is because the new version of Outlook.com (Outlook Mail) no longer supports the DeltaSync protocol that is the default configuration for Microsoft email accounts like Windows Live Mail.
The article explains how to work around part of the problem by using IMAP instead. But the first step the article gives (which it says will ensure that the account folders remain intact during the transition) doesn't work for me because it says select Properties (in the folder pane) and on the General tab deselect "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing," but there is no such option under General.
Should I just ignore this step and try to set up a new IMAP account?
Can I change some setting so that Windows Live Mail no longer is selected automatically when I want to send photos, documents and scanned items? How do I do this?

Hello,
I am currently using Windows Live Mail with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I've installed the latest update that Microsoft recommended in an email sent to everyone.
For some reason the subfolders in my inbox are not showing up on two of the computers I access Windows Live Mail on. They show up on my sister's PC but not on my laptop or desktop. If I try creating a new subfolder with the same name as one of my old ones it says it is already in my inbox, but it still doesn't show up.
I tried looking for solutions on here but couldn't find anyone with a similar problem. If anyone knows anything I can try please let me know. Thank you very much for your time and effort.
Sincerely,
Bakerman71
