Yes I have checked the remember password button in my account settings.  But I get a pop up window for my msn account in windows live email on windows 7.   It might remember it for a while, but I close email and reopen it and it will ask me for my account password.  Sometimes it remembers it.  I chatted with the answer desk and they couldn't get it to repeat the problem.  It didn't do it when they took over the computer.  Note that I don't have this problem with my Hotmail account in windows live, or my sbcglobal account.  I was also having a problem with Onedrive forgetting it for a while.

Every 15 to 20 minutes that I have Live Mail open, I suddenly get a pop-up message "Sorry something unexpected happened with Live Mail and it must close. Recent changes may not be saved." What is causing this to happen and how do I fix it?

I was unwillingly updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7 about 10 days ago.  I had wanted to remain on Windows 7 and was surprised to find Windows 10 being installed immediately I turned on my computer one morning.

Once it was downloaded to thought I would see how it went and the only initial problem I found was that after clicking the left button to do anything, there was always a delay of about 1 second before I could do anything else.  This was annoying but I thought I can live with this and that it would probably sort itself out.

Then I found I could no longer access the start menu.  This meant I could not access Windows Live Mail, which is very important to me and had always worked well in Windows 7.  When I logged out and restarted the computer the Start Button/ Live Mail sometimes came back but never for long.  In the end, even if the start button worked, I could not access Live Mail.  I therefore decided to go back to Windows 7 and followed the instructions on how to do this.

However, when I tried to run Windows Live Mail in Windows 7 it would not open and the following error message appeared “MSVCR110.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”

I have done this many times without success, both after uninstalling Windows Essentials using Uninstaller and also using the following text at the command prompt when operating as administrator:  "c:program files (x86)windows liveinstallerwlarp.exe" /cleanup:all /q

When I try to install Live Essentials I get the following error message:

“Couldn’t install the latest versions.  Could not install these programs….. Because there was a problem updating one of the programs none of them were updated: Error Ox80040609”. Source WLX Suite.”

I have followed the link to get further help and run Disc Clean Up and the Microsoft .NetFramework Repair Tool.  This could not correct the problem.

I have also used System File Checker using the command prompt “sfc /scannow”.  This found no integrity violations.

Any suggestions on what else I could do to try and fix this problem would be gratefully received.

I use Outlook for Mac 2011 on a Macbook Pro with OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

In early January my email provider upgraded its server from POP 3 to IMAP. Since then I've been unable to send or receive email in Outlook and receive the following error message: "Authentication failed because Outlook doesn't support any of the available authentication methods."

I contacted the email provider and initially they tried to help but when the problem continued they stopped replying. They are an activist-based outfit, not a commercial one.

I decided to try my partner's old Windows laptop and configured my email account on Outlook 2010. The port no.s are 993 for incoming (IMAP) and 587 for outgoing (SMTP). Encryption is SSL for IMAP and TLS for SMTP. Settings for outgoing server are the same as incoming. It worked! I was able to download my emails.

The only reason it appears I can't do that in Outlook for Mac 2011 is there's no option for TLS encryption on SMTP, just SSL. The only box to check is "Use SSL to connect (recommended)". Whether I tick that or leave it blank it doesn't work.

I would like any advice on what I can do. Can Outlook for Mac 2011 be configured for TLS encryption? Is there another version that will work this way? I don't want to change my email provider. Thanks.

Windows Live Mail - I am unable to keep emails from going into the Quick View folder.  The option for unread emails to go into the Quick View folder is grayed out so I am not able to uncheck it.  I am able to move the emails from the Quick View to my various inboxes, but I don't want to have to do that.  Help.
