Question about Outlook Express

I've got two accounts on live mail d.stoddart@btconnect and d.stoddart1@hotmail, I've never been able to send messages through live mail but always been able to receive them. Today it asked me for my password which i did then it comes up with an error message, even after I've reset the password. Error message shows

Unable to send or receive messages for the Btconnect (d.stoddart) account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your username and password for this account.

Original Title: Hotmail and Windows Live Mail 2012

I am a hotmail.com email user, via Windows Live Mail.. what year version I'm clueless, Dell set it all up for me under 2 years ago.  I specified Windows 7, didn't want 8, or 8.1, or 10.. and do not intend to buy/use a touchscreen laptop.  Still haven't figured all the ins and outs when you updated outlook email system as Windows Live Mail.   Do I HAVE to change anything to still keep getting my email/hotmail via Windows live mail to send/receive as l have been, once June comes and goes? 

   I don't want to, and don't want to bring it in to geek squad or sit on phone with Dell trying to reconfigure what ever the heck it is you are trying to push us into..  my phone is a Window 8.1, and find that having it restricts me from many apps l had/would otherwise enjoy, as they aren't compatible as they were with android phones or apple.. same for my Directv GenieGo/everywhere, after l bought a sweet 6" Nokia Lumia Windows 8.1 phone purposely to use to watch a few of my directv shows in that nice screen size..  but can't.    If I do have to 'upgrade' to keep receiving the more junk mail than email l do receive,  , I'll be closing my online banking, bill paying, go back to paper bills and check writing, drop out of social media, and deal with businesses utilities over the phone and USPS only.  old school.

Had identity theft issue due to government employee OPM data hack last summer, was a huge amount of work to change all these online accounts and passwords, contacts, and simply sick of it, feel too vulnerable and jerked around by this industry anymore, to 'keep up' with what you call required upgrades, that i want nothing to do with.  PLEASE tell me this is just another 'offer' to have an enhanced online experience via windows 10, and that my email service as is won't be disrupted, will be same ol' same ol', if l just ignore these prompts of yours to upgrade...?   or what is the most minimal change requied to still access to my hotmail acct email?

I've been so ready to kick facebook to the curb..  this may just make me include the internet entirely, to protect my identity and accounts from future trespasses, after taking me for over $25,000 in false withdrawals, accounts created--home improvement loans etc.. which took me 3 months to lock down and be restored to me, and still need to get my credit reports totally corrected of erroneous accts.  I'm understandably cynical, sorry.  I've made all the pc/internet/online changes l can handle these last 6 months just to wrangle with that

• I've uninstalled the app, I've reinstalled it.
• I've changed the file name to comm.old and restarted
• I've done the -online version of removal.
• I've switched to a local account and attempted to add an account.
• I've tried accessing my hotmail through the Exchange option, and the email would not sync.

Usually after a fresh install, it will just give me error messages for just adding an email. If I manage to finagle past that and get an email on there, it won't sync. Then I try to add my accounts again, and it will say:

"The account was added successfully!"

But the account pane shows nothing added. Please help, I don't know what to do and Microsoft isn't going to support WLM2012 anymore.
