I was using WLM 2012 with outlook prior to 8/1 when Outlook was "upgraded."  I didn't heed the warnings about converting over, and now I am trying to recover.  What is the best path forward to get back to the features I had before?

Moved from Mail app

Dear Firedog,

I am referring to your detailed article on http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/wiki/livemail-email/windows-live-mail-and-outlook-mail/6edb5ba6-f9f2-40fd-80a1-fc23cc6fbfe0

I followed your instructions and have begun downloading my Hotmail account to my Windows Live Mail.  The problem is the speed from the IMAP server.  After continuous downloading for 63 hours, I have been able to download only 456 MB.  As suggested by you, I have tried to be patient.  However, I am now suspecting whether I am likely to succeed or I may be wasting my time.  I am unable to find out the size of my mailbox in Hotmail, so I cannot know how long it will take to finish the task of downloading.

According to the speed test, my modem is working at the download speed of 15 Mbps, and the upload speed of 1 Mbps.  However, the actual download speed is only 7 MB per hour.  The service provider of my modem Telstra advised me to contact the technical support of Hotmail for such a low speed, as there is nothing wrong with my modem or with the internet service of Telstra.

I'll be grateful if you could assist.  I need to know whether I should continue to download, or give up.  How long should I continue to download before giving up?

Kind regards,

Dipak

My Windows Live Mail works fine, when sending ordinary email. However, when trying to send a photo it is going to 'Outbox' where it remains. I get no error message. I have tried using the new 'photo email' tab and using an ordinary email and using the 'Photo Album' tab with same results. I have win.10.

I was instructed in a class to download windows essentials Photo Gallery...and provided with the site address.  I was told it is better than what comes in my new Dell Win. 10 computer.  Is Windows Photo Gallery that different or better than the photo application that comes included as part of win 10?   Where would I see the new download saved or does it just replace the original photo application???  The download seemed successful; was instructed to turn off, etc.  Nothing is different and I cannot find Photo Gallery listed anywhere.  And what is  the difference between Win Essentials and Win Essen Live?  Frustrating!
