I accessed my hotmail and was asked to send a security code to an alternate email address.  The email address offered to me no longer exists.  There is no option to send it to another email address and it says it will take 30 days to update my details with a new alternate address.  I am travelling overseas and cannot wait that long.  i depend on my hotmail account.  

How can I get the code sent elsewhere immediately?

If someone responds, where will I see the answer as I won't be able to access my hotmail the next time I log in?  Microsoft have presented me with a unique problem here and I really need it sorted so I will be able to access my mail.
