A while back I was having problems finding an installer app for Windows Movie Maker, because, of course, it has been removed from the Microsoft website.

Discouraged by reviews of other free video editing software,  I then bought Power Director 15 and started to use it. I am sure that it an outstanding and popular video editor, but for my simple needs it is massive overkill.

I then downloaded and tried the free version of Videopad from NCH. It is a lightweight app that installs very quickly. I have not done a lot with it yet, but it has far more capabilities than I need and I really like the interface. There are plenty of formats available for saving the movie file.

I also had a technical question and it was answered in a very helpful way, even though I only have the free version. I have also joined the Forum which is the usual place to go for help with this free product.

So, I did not need to buy Power Director 15 after all.

I thought that this post might be helpful to others who have lost Movie Maker and who do not need the bigger, more comprehensive, paid-for software.
