Background

I see my question has been asked many times, but I don't see an answer.

I am running Windows Live Email in Windows 8.1.

I have two accounts, a private one and my Windows Live account at ...@live.co.uk.

This problem happens on both accounts.

Before I go on, I have already tried to repair winows live essentials.  Also I have deleted and re-installed the program many times.

It happens on only one of my computers.  All my other windows 8.1 computers do not have the same problem.

Actual Problem

I am running Windows 8.1 on a 64 bit machine.

I use Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331) for my emails.

It I start a new email, or reply to an existing email, and attached a file (pdf for example), all is ok.  But If I then decide to remove the attachment by deleting it, windows freezes and there is no response.

The only way to re-cover is by going to the Task Manager and stopping the Windows Live Mail (32bit) program.

About Me

I am a computer expert and know what I'm doing!!

The Fix

I the only thing I haven't tried is a complete re-install of Windows.  I cannot do this for two reasons.  I don't have the original disks (they were never supplied).  Also it takes me many hours (over 100) to re-install all my programs since I have 100's of specialised programs on my computer.

If anyone could advise a fix that would be good.

I have exactly the same problem; but it only started only after “upgrading” to Win10 on 19th of August. I now cannot delete any attachment from any email without fatally crashing Live Mail. The frustration level has been very high as on occasions I have spent considerable time composing the email and there are no recovery options….
