Windows 7 live mail will not let me turn off auto login to microsoft the “stop signing in” selector is not available and appears turned off

I have gone to the drop down menu, then to options, then to mail....and the selector to stop automatic login is grayed and not active.  I need to stop this resource hog from cutting down my speed.
