For the past week or so a window appears, daily on my desktop, saying:-

"WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER

A new version is available.  You must install the new version in order to continue.

Would you like to do this now.

Yes

No"

I have tried saying OK to Yes and to No and closing the window without doing either, but whatever I do it keeps appearing.

Can anyone tell me how I can get rid of the wretched thing?  I would be most grateful.

When searching for somewhere to ask this question, and I'm still not sure that I am in the right place, I got one answer that Windows Live Messenger no longer exists and its function has been transferred to Skype.  I f this is so I am even more puzzled as to how I continue to get the window referred to above!!
