Hi,

I've been having a similar problem.

Windows live mail can't seem to connect to any of the mail servers that it used to receive and send mail from and to. (Regular internet access is working) This happened as far as I can tell just out of nowhere, no system adjustments/changes were made. One second it was working (about 1 day ago), next thing it stops being able to connect properly to the mail servers.

Steps taken:

- Disabled Norton Internet Security Firewall and Anti-Virus protection temporarily to see if that was the issue: no dice

- Repaired Windows Live essentials: no dice (programme was shut down before repair commenced, no dice, did it once with the programme running)

- Can retrieve and send mail through smartphone (android) so no problems at servers (no connection or authentication problems)

- Switched network connection to rule out ISP issues (switched to tethered network through smartphone's 4G network, instead of fixed cable modem network through ISP): no dice

- Response received when doing send/receive: timeout, pop server hasn't responded for over 60 seconds, do you want to wait or stop. Neither choice leads to different outcomes. (error: 0x800CCC0F on all 4 mail servers)

- Servers are a mix of pop (110) and gmail (995) servers. No difference in outcomes.

- Turned windows live mail off and restarted: no dice

- Ended process-structure through taskmanager and restarted: no dice

- Shut down pc and did a cold start up: no dice

At my wits end now

System information:

Windows 7 Home premium (service pack 1) (OEM version through Asus)

Windows Live Mail: Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308)

Norton Internet Security: 21.5.0.19

ISP: UPC, (alternative ISP through 4G network: KPN)

Country: NL

Can you help?
